Sonnet of the Lost Souls

From our first encounter with the grave
to our last experience of mortal pain,
we never remembered, or cared to save
those precious memories within our brains.
To us Time’s scythe is no longer a threat
for we’ve journeyed through the shadows of Death;
Still we have fears, for from Life we regret
our choices -- and we drown in that despair...
Even though we could now no longer die,
we could not find our perpetual light,
or return to where all our problems lie,
so we could warn others of our plight.
Trapped in the abyss ourselves we condemn;
we only pray: dona nobis pacem.
